Our story

The Men’s Den was created to give men a place to talk, connect, and belong, without judgement, ego, or pressure. Too many men carry the weight of life on their shoulders in silence, and far too often don’t have a space where they feel comfortable opening up. We wanted to change that.

What began as a simple idea, bringing men together for honest conversation and mutual support, has grown into a welcoming community built on trust, respect, and real connection. There’s no pretence here, no “performing”, and no expectation to have it all figured out. Just a safe space to turn up as you are.

Whether it’s to share experiences, learn from others, or simply sit with like-minded people who “get it”, The Men’s Den exists to remind men that they are not alone — and never have to be.

This is a place to reset, to talk openly, and to find strength in community.

Our history

The Men’s Den was launched on World Mental Health Day 2025, after its founder — who also co-founded the SK9 Social Group — recognised that men were often outnumbered in mixed social settings and less likely to open up. He saw the need for a space designed specifically for men: somewhere relaxed, friendly and pressure-free.

Rooted in Alderley Edge, The Men’s Den now reaches further afield, welcoming men from surrounding towns and communities. We meet fortnightly, creating a regular opportunity for connection, conversation and friendship.

It isn’t always about deep discussion — sometimes we talk about life’s everyday moments: sport, hobbies, a laugh, or simply sharing a joke. The goal is simple: to help everyone feel relaxed, included and at ease with one another.

From day one, our purpose has remained the same: to give men a safe space to meet, belong, and support each other — without judgement and without having to go it alone.

Our Objectives

The Men’s Den

The Men’s Den is a relaxed, welcoming space for local men to connect, talk, and support each other. There’s no pressure, no judgement, and no expectations — just good company and honest conversations when you want them.

What we’re here for:

  • A place to be yourself
Come as you are — talk, listen or simply enjoy being around others.

  • Reducing isolation
Helping men feel more connected through regular meet-ups and friendships.

  • Looking after wellbeing
Encouraging small, positive habits for both mental and physical health.

  • Support when life gets tough
A friendly ear, and signposting to help if you ever need more.

  • A sense of belonging
A group where you’re welcomed, valued, and never treated like a number.

  • Breaking the silence
Making it normal — and safe — for men to talk about how they're really doing.

  • 🤝 Confidentiality & Respect

What’s shared in The Men’s Den stays in The Men’s Den.
We believe trust is the foundation of everything we do. Members are free to talk openly, knowing that personal stories, experiences, or anything shared in confidence will not be repeated outside the group.

Everyone deserves to be heard without judgement or gossip, and that’s what keeps this a safe, supportive space for all of us.

  • If someone says, “Have you got 8 minutes to spare?”, it’s a gentle call for a chat.
If you can, take a moment to stop, listen, and be there; those 8 minutes could really make a difference.
